THIS EVENT IS FILLED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.

Curators from The Park Museum and the Park Museum of Contemporary Art (PMoCA) will host a two-day event to encourage young Animals to explore museum career opportunities, including that of curator.

The event, which will be co-led by Park Museum curator Dorika Pumi and PMoCA’s Aamuun Maroodiga, will offer paws-on experience with artefacts, sculpture, paintings, and more.

The first day’s curriculum will include a discussion of the various rôles played by employees of a museum, with a focus on the rôle of curators as decision-makers. A complete tour of The Park Museum, including its storage facilities, will follow the lunch break, with a question and answer session at the end of the tour.

On the second day, Catriona Cairn-Terrier, Chief Archaeologist at the Institute for the Study of Mammalian Life (ISML), will discuss the “Three P’s,” of museum responsibility (procurement, provenance, and preservation), and lead a mock dig for artefacts.

The two-day event will be held on March 17-18, 2019 from 10:00-3:00.

Registration opens on Saturday, March 10.
